When I heard they were remaking it my initial reaction was that it would be impossible for an American team to recapture the magic of the original. But that’s also because I figured they would cast Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox and turn it into some crappy Twilight-type abomination.
This trailer has changed my mind a bit. It’s actually kind of awesome. And it looks like they have tried to preserve the subtlety and classiness of the original. So the jury is out. Sometimes remakes can be a good thing, because no matter how good the original was it’s just never going to reach a wide audience here and a wide audience deserves to see this story. And not all remakes are bad. Don’t let anyone tell you the original Ringu is superior to The Ring.
