Director Phillip Noyce, hot off metformin weight loss 1000 mg the great box office performance of Salt, has confirmed that he is eyeing an adaptation of “Dirt Music,” by Tim Winton, as his next film with Russell Crowe set to star. In an interview with Elvis Mitchell for Elvis’ podcast on KCRW, Noyce said that Crowe will play the role of:
“A grieving country musician-turned-poacher in the wilderness of Western Australia who begins a relationship with a neighbor.”
The book sounds really interesting, but as a film sounds a little too Crazy Heart to me. And Crowe hasn’t had much luck with these smaller side project movies (A Good Year, Tenderness).
Noyce also added:
“Russell has been preparing for it for a number of years. He’s written and recorded a number of songs that’ll be in the movie. In fact he’s going on tour later this year with his band and people around America will be able to hear a lot of the songs well in advance of the movie coming out.”
Make no mistake, Crowe took this role because it was an opportunity to involve his love of music (which I can respect) and his crappy band 30 Odd Foot of Grunts (which is just awful). No, seriously, this is possibly the worst celebrity fronted band ever. They make Keanu Reeves’ Dogstar look like The Beatles.
Check out the video below. This is real, people. It may appear to be one of those comedic Saturday Night Live digital shorts… but it’s not. I don’t want to say the only reason Crowe got a recording contract is because of his celebrity, but you be the judge.
