Day 6: Event Horizon (1997)
“You know nothing. Hell is metformin 500 mg for pcos only a word. The reality is much, much worse.”
Event Horizon tricked me. The previews for this film made it look like a cool science fiction thriller with great visuals and special effects. Not once did that preview indicate this was a horror film. I went into the theatre expecting Star Trek. I left that theatre a frightened child who had to sleep with the lights on that night.
I’m not joking. There is metformin hcl 850 mg side effects an image in this movie that I can’t get out of my head still to this day. Possibly the grossest thing I have seen on film. This movie makes Hostel look like a Disney cartoon.
In the year 2047 a group of astronauts are sent to investigate and salvage the long lost starship “Event Horizon”. The ship disappeared mysteriously 7 years before on its maiden voyage and with its return comes even more mystery as the crew of the “Lewis and Clark” discover the real truth behind its disappearance.
This film has a pretty solid cast with Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, and Jason Isaacs. Now, this starts with one of those horror premises where the whole audience is yelling at our crew “get the hell off this ship right now immediately what’s wrong with you people!!!???” This is because the walls of the ship have been plastered with what looks like humans that were put in a blender and the only evidence of the previous crew is the carcass of a man who has been burned alive and had his eyeballs ripped out. Hello??? Rescue mission is over. Time to leave!
Of course, the stupid ass crew ignore the signs because they are here to do a job. Then they each start having haunting visions that terrorize them. And when I say terrorize, I’m talking Hellraiser/serial killer style. Dudes are getting eyeballs ripped out, stomachs cut open with surgical knives, body parts sewn together that should not be sewn together. Some seriously sick stuff happening.
And then there is the video. The video they discover that shows what happened to the previous crew. The video that still keeps me up at night. If you think you want to know what happened to the old crew, then see this movie. If you don’t want to see a fate more terrible than you can imagine, go watch Shrek instead. I wish I had.
