Aronofsky to Direct “Wolverine” Sequel?

And the metformin 1000 mg day hits just keep on coming. Those who were bummed when director Darren Aronofsky (among others) lost the gig of directing metformin weight loss reviews the new Superman reboot to Zack Snyder might find a bit of solace- or sickness- in this piece of news: Aronofsky has been offered the chance to direct the sequel to last year’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

It’s not official yet, of course. Things rarely are in this town. One of the big reasons is Tales From the Gangster Squad,  a 40′s LAPD drama that Warner Brothers has offered Aronofsky as a consolation prize for giving the Superman gig to Snyder. Find out why Aronofsky lost that highly coveted job after the break.

According to this report from Vulture, Aronofsky wasn’t chosen for Superman for fear that he would waste too much time trying to fix David Goyer’s script, which is apparently still a bit of a mess. And if there’s one thing Warner Brothers doesn’t have in relation to the Superman franchise, it’s time.

So the question now becomes: Will Darren Aronofsky agree to direct Wolverine 2, or will he opt for Warner Brother’s 40′s crime drama? Or will he choose another project altogether? Aronofsky and Hugh Jackman did work together on The Fountain, a movie I can safely say that I loved  more than the other 20 people who saw it. And yeah, it would be cool to see the two team up again, but… Wolverine?

Say what you want about the first Wolverine pic, so long as you acknowledge that it was a terrible film. Hey, even if it was only a mediocre film, Aronofsky is not a mediocre director. I’d love to see him do a genre film (like MGM’s missing-in-action Robocop reboot) but I will not stand by and watch him toil away on the inessential sequel to a middling, irritatingly bland comic book movie. Ok, yes I will. But I won’t be happy about it.

Aronofsky’s newest film, Black Swan, is scheduled for release this December.
