Day 13: Love Actually

Day 13: Love Actually (2003)

“ I feel metformin hcl 500 mg dosage it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes, Christmas is all around me, and so the feeling grows.” – Horribly, cheesy, hilarious song featured in the film.

Love Actually is my favorite romantic comedy of its type (When Harry Met Sally being my favorite of the genre). The type I’m referring to is the one that recent films like Valentine’s Day and He’s Just Not That Into You attempted to use, but had already been perfected by the likes of Magnolia (though, not a romcom) and its ilk. This specific sub-genre features more characters than you can keep track of, but every one of the two dozen subplots in the movie have either one idea in common that ties each plot together, at some point in the movie everyone’s respective paths with cross with each other, or both will occur. Love Actually tells the story of a group of people during the holidays who are just looking for somebody to love (cue Queen).

I’ m sure metformin hydrochloride and weight loss my affection (and seemingly every person’s that I’ve ever talked to about the movie) comes from the universal need of wanting to be loved, whether from a parent, significant other, or ol’ chum; something to which any and everyone can relate. But there’s just something about seeing everyone find happiness in the end that just gets me every time. Yeah, I know it’s typical Hollywood sentimentality, but it works for a reason! Rarely, do I (or anyone for that matter)  get a hankering to watch a downer, that’s why most movies end with sunshine, rainbows, puppies, and happiness.

My affection also extends to Love Actually’s stellar cast. This ensemble cannot be trifled with, because it’s made up of some of the best that Britain has to offer. Liam Neeson. Hugh Grant. Emma Thompson. Alan Rickman. Bill Nighy. Colin Firth. Martin Freeman. Keira Knightley. Rowan Atkinson. When it comes to acting, this film is playing for keeps, because it’s not like it features an all-star cast where everyone phoned in their performances. No, Love Actually is brilliantly acted, and that’s why it’s my favorite of the subgenre. You can have an interesting story that’s heartwarming and has that “holiday hook” to get butts into seats, but it’s all about the acting here. These actors deliver where most in the subgenre fail.

Actually, I often get an urge to watch depressing movies, to which my family has responded in the past, “What’s wrong with you?”
