Review: The A-Team

The A-Team is a metformin weight loss side effects film I really did not want to see, if only because watching Quinton “Rampage” Jackson on screen for two hours would just be too much for me to handle after seeing him lose to Rashad Evans in the UFC two weeks earlier. I fall into the camp that believes the extended break Jackson took from mixed martial arts in order to shoot this film led to his subpar performance in the octagon, so walking into the theater to see it was a bittersweet experience. Fortunately, The A-Team is actually quite good and I did not once find myself dwelling on Rampage’s loss.

Review: Iron Man 2

At the risk of sounding uninformed and ill-suited to be reviewing this film, I learned one day prior to seeing Iron Man 2 that the song heard at the end of the trailers and TV spots was a song by Black Sabbath from 1970. See, all this time I honestly thought that it was the official Iron Man theme song created specifically for the character. I can only imagine this is because I have never actually listened to enough of it to get to the lyrics. Am I the only one who thought this? Based on my discussions with a small handful of people, the answer appears to be yes.

Review: Repo Men

Repo Men is probably the easiest film this year to gauge exactly how good it will be prior to actually watching it. This made it much easier for me to appreciate and enjoy what is for the most part a flawed and decidedly average action movie. The film has plenty of intriguing ideas, but they are mostly bogged down by an uninspired script and underwritten characters. Excellent performances by the actors playing them and a cool premise are the only things saving Repo Men from mediocrity. Most of this can all be discerned from simply watching the trailers and TV spots.

Review: She’s Out of My League

She’s Out of My League reminds me of that Old Spice commercial (“Hello ladies. Look at your man, now back to me, now back at your man, now back to me…) where the guy starts out in the shower and the background rolls up to show him on a ship and then randomly riding horseback. What the two have in common is a degree of fresh thinking that separates them from their contemporaries. All of the film’s ads proclaimed it the funniest comedy since The Hangover and I’m happy to say that they are pretty much right.

Review: 2/3 of Alice in Wonderland

Is Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland a good movie? I honestly have no idea, but the parts I was awake for were terrible. I think I dozed off somewhere around when Alice meets the Cheshire cat and woke up during the execution scene. So that must mean something dramatic or at the very least loud happened to wake me up right? Well, no. That would be the fault of my friend who feels it’s his duty to provide offbeat in-theater commentary during all the big moments.
