With shooting a mere 3 weeks away, the final bits of casting are coming together for X-Men: First Class.  Rose Byrne has just been hired to play Moira MacTaggert, the romantic foil for Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy).

In the Marvel comic, Moira is a scientist specializing in genetic mutation who was instrumental in the founding of the X-Men with Charles Xavier.  She was also at one time his fiancé.

ComingSoon is reporting that Jason Flemyng (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) has been cast as Azazel, a teleporting mutant who ends up being Nightcrawler’s father, in X-Men: First Class for director Matthew Vaughn. Flemyng is a frequent collaborator with Vaughn, having been in every one of his films so far, I think.

Confirmed today at Star Wars Celebration V by George Lucas himself, all six Star Wars films will be released on blu-ray in glorious 1080p HD in Fall 2011.
