But his latest, the Oscar-bound Black Swan, is packed with more special effects than you’d think. Effects company Look FX has released a demo-reel showcasing the many subtle (and not so subtle) effects used in the film.

It was about 15 years ago that Scream changed the face of horror movies. Perhaps the first of its kind, Scream was a hyper self-aware meta-horror film that armed young audiences with a new, cynical, and cliché-averse way of looking at slasher-films. Then, 11 years ago, Scream 3 wrapped up the trilogy on an arguably low-note. Well, it’s a new decade, and there’s a new Scream ready to explain–and break–the rules. Take a look at the trailer for Scream 4 (or Scre4m, if you prefer). Is this the rebirth of a classic franchise? Or are director Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson running out of ideas?

Trailer: Red Riding Hood

“But inside your heart it is black and it’s hollow and it’s cold…” Oh boy here we go! Warner Bros. has released the full theatrical trailer for its medieval romance/fairy tale-horror movie, Red Riding Hood due in theaters on March 11, 2011. What is it with the late winter/early spring period and werewolf movies these days?  Last year brought Joe Johnston’s The Wolfman and now this. Regardless, Red Riding Hood looks like a lot of fun and the trailer sets a dark and intriguing tone for the film, plus it’s packing Nine Inch Nails music. Red Riding Hood is directed by Catherine Hardwicke and stars Amanda Seyfried and Gary Oldman. Watch the trailer after the jump. Will you bite the hand that feeds?

Catwoman and Bane Cast in The Dark Knight Rises

Endless debate and speculation over who should be the villain(s) in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises can now be put to rest. Warner Bros. announced the names of the two villain roles today and the actors who will play them. One was expected and the other is a bit of a shock. Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle, better known as Catwoman, and Tom Hardy will play Bane.

Here he is, in the picture everyone’s been waiting for. Andrew Garfield. Spider-Man. In the suit. Bloody and beaten up. Well honestly I’m not sure I’ve been waiting for it. I forgot for a moment that Spider-Man was even being rebooted. I think I blocked it out of my memory.
