Bond 23 is Official

Fresh off metformin side effects hair loss an exit from bankruptcy, MGM has announced that the next Bond film is back on track. Progress on the currently untitled “Bond 23” has had to endure the turbulence of MGM’s financial woes and reported script issues, but an official press release tuesday puts James Bond back in theaters on November 9, 2012. Daniel Craig will return as 007 and Sam Mendes is set to direct.

Trailer: Priest

Scott Stewart’s Legion is easily metformin hcl 500 mg side effects my favorite crap movie of 2010. It had one of those, “O…K… I think I’ll stop caring about the plot now, but I just can’t look away - this is too much fun!” scripts and the most absurd take on biblical lore in recent memory, but then again it also had Paul Bettany and Dennis Quaid, who looks as confused as ever. It’s hard to tell from this trailer if Stewart’s followup, Priest, will be an improvement or  just more of the same, but I can tell that it looks significantly more complicated. If Priest is anything like Legion, complicated might not be such a good thing, but with Bettany, Karl Urban, Maggie Q, and Christopher Plummer on board, count me in! Priest hits theaters on May 13, 2011. Watch the trailer after the jump:

Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann to Reprise ‘Knocked Up’ Roles

For Judd Apatow’s fourth directorial effort he will return to his 2007 hit comedy Knocked Up. The new film will further explore the relationship between Debbie, the older sister of Katherine Heigl’s character, and her rock band talent-scouting, fantasy baseball-playing husband, Pete. Both Paul Rudd and Apatow’s wife, Leslie Mann, will reprise their roles.

Gareth Edwards to Direct Godzilla

Kaiju fans worldwide, the wait is over. We now know who will direct Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla, set to hit theaters in 2012, and it happens to be someone with a bit of experience in the field. Gareth Edwards, a British independent filmmaker best known for last year’s low-budget, yet highly-acclaimed Monsters, will now take on the greatest monster of them all.

Rest in peace, Kobayashi

I confess I have not seen enough of Pete Postlethwaite’s work to properly write a commemorative passage on the British character actor. Though, from what I have seen, I will say that the kind of presence and attention he demands on screen puts him up against any of the best character actors you could find.

Happy New Year 2011!

To our faithful and casual readers alike, we want to wish everyone a happy new year! For take148, it was a phenomenal 2010, and we’re excited about what’s coming in 2011.

I always associate random holidays with equally random movie scenes. I’ll admit that since I couldn’t find a good clip of Bill Murray dropping in on Vigo the Carpathian from the torch of the Statue of Liberty and saying “Happy New Year!” in  Ghostbusters 2, and I really don’t think that anyone should start off a new year with the any scene from Gremlins 2: The New Batch (cue the Brain singing New York, New York),  it’d only be right to kick-start 2011 with one of the great Hollywood endings from my favorite romantic comedy of all time, When Harry Met Sally.
