Trailer: HBO’s Lucky

Lucky is the latest in HBO’s summer documentary series and it focuses on the lottery system in America. The focus is not on the function and how it all works, but rather on how it impacts the people involved (winners and losers).

Nothing really blew me away about this trailer, but it seems like an interesting enough premise. I feel like I’d have a hard time relating to people who find themselves spending a significant amount of money on the lottery, but one quote from the trailer did strike me, “Winning the lottery is like throwing miracle grow on  your character defects. Everything is magnified.” An interesting point that I hope is discussed further in the documentary itself.

Lucky will air Monday, July 19th, on HBO.

Viacom Pulls TV From Hulu

Brian Stelter of the New York Times reports that Viacom will pull “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report” from streaming video on Hulu next week. Both shows, however, will continue to be available for free streaming on their respective websites, TheDailyShow.com & ColbertNation.com. While other programming from Comedy Central will remain on Hulu, the “amicable” break came from Viacom and Hulu’s inability to come to new programming agreements.
